What Causes Rashes in Adults and Babies?

Many factors can contribute to rashes in both babies and adults. We all know that skin rashes cause itching. Let us look at some of the most common causes of rashes in babies:

  • Baby acne is small spots that appear within the month of birth. These can appear on the cheeks, forehead, or nose and disappear within a few weeks.
  • Cradle cap occurs on the scalp of newborns. These visible white or yellow scaly patches subside in a few weeks.
  • Diaper rash is red patches on the buttocks and genital area caused by diapers.
  • Heat rash appears as tiny, raised spots that cause an itch. It is common in the summer.
  • Eczema is an inflammatory condition found on the neck and behind the elbows and knees. It makes the skin appear dry and itchy.
  • Drool rash appears around the mouth and on the chest and is triggered by the baby’s drool
